About DAT-CON

Founded in Slovenia in 1992, DAT-CON develops mobile, stationary and portable observation solutions for perimeter, border, coastal and critical-infrastructure security. Key technologies

SOVA command-and-control software

SOVA is a modular C4I software environment developed for border police, coast guard and naval applications. It provides a central interface for connected subsystems and supports functions such as device control, recording, target tracking, panoramic observation and automatic slew-to-cue operation.

Electro-optical multi-sensor systems

DAT-CON multi-sensor platforms combine long-range thermal imaging with high-resolution day/night cameras on remotely controlled pan-and-tilt units. Depending on the operational requirement, systems can also incorporate laser range finding, GPS, digital compass, radar connectivity, SWIR imaging and video tracking.

Radar and AIS integration

For coastal and maritime surveillance, radar and AIS data can be connected to the observation system so that a detected target can be associated with available identification data and automatically handed over to an electro-optical sensor for visual verification.

How NGS integrates DAT-CON technology

NGS combines DAT-CON technologies with the communications, network, recording and control-room infrastructure required by each site. A typical integrated workflow can include:

  • marine or terrestrial radar detects and tracks a target;
  • SOVA presents the target and supporting sensor data to the operator;
  • the relevant thermal or day/night camera is automatically directed towards the target;
  • the operator receives live imagery for recognition, classification and decision support;
  • events, video and system information are made available to the command centre for monitoring and review.
